The Beparta Team

Dovetail High-Low Collection C016 - Beparta™

The Beparta NSW team is diverse, representing a wide range of professional perspectives relating to academic research excellence, industry expertise and educational innovation. Our roles include educators, learning environment researchers, architects, educational system consultants and furniture manufacturers.

What is our focus?

We are practitioner focussed, bridging relationships between sectors. Our focus is on collating, synthesising and promoting the best research in ILEs around the world, for a global audience. This requires expert support to select and communicate what is best for global audiences in three categories: academia, industry and education practitioners.

Areas of focus include:

  • Collectively designing schools that have the most positive and successful experience on learning
  • Designing ILEs and exploring their impact specifically at a practitioner/teacher level
  • Student experience in relation to inclusiveness/universal design for learning and future skills
  • Ensuring furniture being designed is exactly what students, teachers and schools want in their ILEs

What interests are represented in our team
A balance between practitioner experience, research and industry partnerships including:

  • Teacher transition to ILE’s
    • Changing teacher practice to improve the student learning experience
    • Supporting teachers to adapt to innovative pedagogy and design
    • Building teacher efficacy
    • Educational leadership & change management
  •
  • Design
      • Purposeful design that is representative of the community aspirations/vision for student learning
      • Collaborative learning spaces
      • Adaptability in a flexible learning environment
      • Connectivity and interactivity through biophilic design
      • Adding to, upgrading and adjusting ILEs (and classrooms generally) post-occupancy.

What do we hope to get out of the Scoping Study?

  • Practical application and strategies that can make a difference to student experience in ILE through sustainable design, teacher transformation.
  • Relationships between all sectors of education as well as those organisations and industries that are (becoming more and more) involved and connected with education on a deeper and purposeful level
  • An innovative culture and mindset in all sectors of education; local and global
  • The future of education that is co-designed and co-built, resulting in stronger collaborations for a more valuable output of physical and digital environments for learning.
  • A direction for future research which makes a broader impact to sectors of society who don’t think about school/design as much as everyone involved in this study.

 What links would we welcome?

  • Further academic, industry and educational partners (as audience and as collaborators) and also parents, students and government/non-government organisations who influence decisions and set strategy and policy for the future of education.
    • Connections to industries (design, architecture)
    • Direct links to tertiary (research and teacher development partnerships)
    • Like minded schools and organisations – specifically but not limited to girls’ education
  • International and national bodies … great to work together globally on the future of education
  • Links with teachers and schools who are considering building or currently using ILEs.
  • Connections with experts who are thinking about the future of ILEs, particularly in terms of space planning and furniture needs.
