The Roundtables (one in Melbourne, one in Copenhagen) are intended to act as a ‘decision making time’ for participants in the ILE+SE project. What research is needed into the next decade? And if we have agreement, how can that research be put into place? Finally, will this research agenda meet my needs, and that of my geographic region, or my sector (academia, education, allied ILE industries’)?
After a year and a half of workshops, regional zooms, individual Team meetings, and informal discussions through Cafes and other fora, we have gathered extensive and robust data about ‘what should be next’. That data has been refined into a final white paper of two parts; results of the Workshops and the corresponding Delphi Survey; and a blueprint for an unprecedented and extensive international research project.

What do we know about helping teachers to use innovative learning spaces well? Four years of intensive research in the ILETC project (Innovative Learning Environments and Teacher Change) has built an extensive body of evidence, strategies, and resources. This event will share those findings, and identify the ‘what’s next’ – what new knowledge is now needed.

‘Re-emerging Conversations’
At long last, the return of this popular opportunity to converse with other designers and educators. It will be Talking Spaces number 10! Over the previous nine years we have built a tradition of this event facilitating great conversations between designers, educators and researchers. That successful strategy is being re-invigorated after a 2-year COVID break; three speakers, two specialist sessions, three discussion panels, two site visits, and drinks and networking at University House and hosted by Steelcase at Flex workspace.
Talking Spaces 10 will be hosted at mixed venues including the Melbourne School of Design, Arts West, Melbourne Connect and Port Melbourne Secondary College. More to follow.
